Friday Game Night: August 5th - 5 GAMEs Registered with still Room For More!
NOTE: Bring & Play games (unregistered games) are always welcome!
A new games schedule is posted on this page usually starting on the Tuesday of the week of Friday Game Night, and is updated as new games are registered up to the afternoon of Friday Game Night.
1.
GAME: Catan, Old World to New Worlds GENERA: Board Game HOST: John Biehl SCALE: N/A PLAYERS: Up to 7 - 8 RULES: Standard Catan with House Rules SCENARIO: Consistent with the original game. A new conception of the map board &, instead of the Longest Road, the Longest Trade Route. _______ 2. GAME: Kings of War GENERA: Fantasy HOST: Luke Fraser SCALE: 28mm PLAYERS: 6 - 12 RULES: Kings of War -Fantasy Battles SCENARIO: Kings of War is a spiritual successor to Warhammer Fantasy Battles, taking the Rank & Flank maneuvers you know and love and streamlining the rules to keep gameplay moving. It's model-agnostic and has no individual model removal, so it's an absolute dream for hobby. Come check it out if you're interested - we're always happy to give demo games. _______ 3. GAME: D&D GENERA: RPG HOST: Doug Oak SCALE: 28mm PLAYERS: 2 - 8 RULES: D&D 4th Edition SCENARIO: City Sandbox survival game. Mysterious powers are using kidnapped people to play a deadly contest. You are a pawn in their game. Can you survive long enough to become a Queen. _______ 4. GAME: Big Game Hunters GENERA: Colonials HOST: Lisa Smedman SCALE: 28mm PLAYERS: 4 RULES: Congo SCENARIO: Deep in the Congo's unexplored jungle lurks the mighty Kong. You are a great white hunter, come to bag the giant ape. Together with your bearers (to haul the great carcass out) and native guides, you have beaten a path through dense jungle. You arrive, exhausted, at the spot where Kong makes his nest. Unfortunately, you're not the only hunter on the trail of the great beast. Other European adventurers have also made their way to this spot! Will you strike an uneasy truce? Content yourself with bagging lesser prey? And what do those mysterious drums you've been hearing portend? _______ 5. GAME: Marengo, June 14th 1800 GENERA: Napoleonics HOST: Kevin Aldridge SCALE: 2mm PLAYERS: 4 - 5 RULES: BLUCHER (Sam Mustapha) SCENARIO: Bonaparte's famous victory in northern Italy. With this game I have something new I want to try out -- a four square inch grid covering the entire game mat, used in place of rulers and measuring sticks. This idea comes from Sam Mustapha's Rommel (he also designed Blucher). Apparently the use of a grid vastly increases the rate of play without being too 'gamey'. Maybe we can actually finish a game! "At Marengo I lost the battle at five o'clock, and I won it back again at seven!" -- Boney (in the movie) NOTES: Ground scale is 9 inches to the mile. _______ 6. GAME: Mastery of West Africa GENERA: WWII Naval HOST: Jonathan Stone SCALE: 1/2400th PLAYERS: up to 10 RULES: Supremacy at Sea SCENARIO: Which side will be victorious as two fleets of cruisers come into action. French and British do battle off the coast of West Africa in late 1941. _______ 7. GAME: Battletech GENERA: Sci-Fi HOST: Steve Dickey SCALE: Board Game PLAYERS: up to 7 - 8 RULES: Total Warfare SCENARIO: We'll be demoing one of two 19x28 tournament-style maps for our Battletech tourney that we have been planning since January, scheduled for October 1st and 2nd of this year (http://www.tinyurl.com/solaris3035reg to register)! It's either going to be a western-sci-fi town with combined forces or a desert that features randomly determined strafe bombing runs. _______ 8. GAME: 18xx Game: Either 1882 Assiniboia or 18Chesapeake GENERA: Railway Board Game HOST: Bill Dixon SCALE: Board Game PLAYERS: 2-6 per game RULES: 18xx SCENARIO: Both games are suitable for beginners. The Chesapeake After Dark Variant is available for those who want a faster game. Mini Express will also be available.
