Friday Game Night: July 6th - 14 GAMES SCHEDULED... Still ROOM FOR MORE Games!
A new games schedule will be posted on this page usually starting on the Tuesday of the week of Friday Game Night, and will be updated as new games are registered up to the afternoon of Friday Game Night.
1.
GAME: Fantasy GENRE: RPG HOST: Richard Smith SCALE: n/a RULES: The Fantasy Trip (TFT) PLAYERS: 1- 6 Players SCENARIO: This is a role playing game, the modules being fast and quick playing with each session lasting up to 2 hours so more than one game can be played in the evening. The Fantasy Trip (TFT) was Steve Jackson’s first RPG. He has reacquired the rights after 35 years and will be launching the game on Kickstarter on July 23rd of this year. 2. GAME: Runewars Miniatures: Fantasy Rank & Flank GENRE: Board Game HOST: Luke Fraser and Thomas Paterson SCALE: 28mm RULES: Runewars Miniatures PLAYERS: Up to 4 SCENARIO: Mass fantasy battles in the realm of Terrinoth. The game uses a dial-based initiative system (an evolution of x-wing, for those familiar with it) to resolve activations, with each unit locking in its action at the beginning of the round. Play proceeds in initiative order, with different actions taking place early and late. Not only does this create a tense fog of war effect, but it gives concrete mechanics to each unit, bringing their theme to life with gameplay. Can you guess your opponent's plan and stay one step ahead? NOTES: Runewars is a 2-player game, but we'd like to demo to as many people as possible. The two of us can accommodate 4 players at a time, and a demo will be 40-60 minutes. 3. GAME: Napoleonic Wars – Iberian Peninsula GENRE: Napoleonic HOST: Dennis Chin SCALE: A mix of 20 mm and 1/72 RULES: The Final Arguments of Kings PLAYERS: 4 SCENARIO: When diplomacy fails, kings and emperors will resort to their final arguments: heavy artillery. The Spaniards rebel against their French occupiers in 1808, forcing the French army to carry out multiple atrocities, so well depicted by Goya in his paintings in the Prado Museum. The French turn their attention again to Portugal and soundly defeat the Portuguese army at the Battle of Porto in March 1809. Fleeing Portuguese regiments and Spanish guerrillas join a small British vanguard at the cross-roads outside Lisbon in an attempt to stop the hated French invaders. 4. GAME: Saving the Guns! GENRE: Colonial HOST: Will Bailie SCALE: 28 mm RULES: The Men Who Would Be Kings PLAYERS: 2 - 4 SCENARIO: An incident from the Battle of Maiwand. Ayub Khan’s army is winning the battle. Can you rescue the guns before they are overrun? 5. GAME: Dungeons & Dragons GENRE: RPG HOST: Peter Haldenby SCALE: n/a RULES: Dungeons and Dragons, 5th Edition PLAYERS: 2 - 6 SCENARIO: While investigating a minor theft the party uncovered evidence of a conflict between two evil cults and stumbled into a village under attack by a dragon. What can they do to help against such a deadly foe? NOTES: Players are welcome to either bring along a level 2-3 character or pick a pre-generated one. Please bring a miniature for your character if you have one. This game is picking up on a story we started a few months ago, so if we run low on places priority will be given to existing players. 6. GAME: Chain of Command GENRE: World War II Land Combat HOST: Craig Murray SCALE: TBA RULES: Chain of Command PLAYERS: 2 SCENARIO: France 1940. French defenders valiantly attempt to hold off the Germans. 7. GAME: Dungeons & Dragons - Dark Sun GENRE: RPG HOST: Burgess Dillon SCALE: 28mm RULES: Dungeons & Dragons - 4th Edition PLAYERS: Up to 6 SCENARIO: ...now that the Vault of Darom Madar has been raided... how will the adventurers get the treasure back to the city of Tyr... alive! 8. GAME: 18xx Rail Games GENRE: Board Game HOST: Bill Dixon SCALE: N/A RULES: Dungeons & Dragons - 4th Edition PLAYERS: 5 - 11 SCENARIO: There will be two games available: 1846 for a beginners game and 1869 for an advanced game. 9. GAME: Guardians Chronicles GENRE: Board Game HOST: Charles SCALE: N/A RULES: Board Game PLAYERS: Up to 5 (including host) SCENARIO: Join the super-powered heroes of the Liberty Patrol, fight your way through the secret base of the nefarious Doktor Skarov, foil his evil plans and save the world! 10. GAME: Mystery Scouts GENRE: RPG HOST: Daniel Charlton SCALE: N/A RULES: Self-Made RPG PLAYERS: 4-6 SCENARIO: To an outsider, this sleepy northwestern town appears normal, but the residents know better. The wacky and preternatural are just everyday occurrences to its citizens - though nobody but the children seem to notice. Players assume the roles as juvenile scouts from this town's troop and since none of the grown-ups seem to notice, it's up to them to hunt down the truth. 11. GAME: Assault on Norrey GENRE: World War II Land Combat HOST: Roy K. SCALE: 15mm RULES: Battlegroup PLAYERS: 2 - 4 SCENARIO: Normandy, June 7th-8th 1944. 26th SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment launch a night assault to recapture Norrey-en-Bessin from the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division. 12. GAME: The Battle of Ridgeway (Fenian Raids 1866) GENRE: Black Powder Era Skirmish Game HOST: Colin Upton SCALE: 28mm RULES: The Men Who Would Be Kings PLAYERS: 2 - 6 Players SCENARIO: Historical refight of the clash between Irish American Fenian raiders versus Canadian Militia. Both sides are seeking glory by sweeping the enemy from the field before the arrival of British regulars, one to avoid fighting them and the other to claim all the glory for themselves. Rough veterans of America’s bloody civil war fighting for Irish independence pitted against inexperienced but plucky defenders of the Empire! 13. GAME: Chariot Races GENRE: Ancient Sports HOST: Steve Allen SCALE: 15mm RULES: Circus Maximus PLAYERS: Up to 20 SCENARIO: The factions of Rome have gathered for a night of drinking and carousing! Join the brave and noble Charioteers and attempt to best the field to win gold and glory! Three lap race of whips and bashing as you charge around the track! 14. NOTES: 8,000 point battle: Players can bring a 8,000 point force (BV2) of 1-4 units, including BV for pilots, or for those without mechs we will have some pre-made forces available. Players will face off one vs one, maps chosen randomly. Units can be Mech, vehicle, infantry or VTOL, but no custom mechs, no advanced rules/equipment or TacOps equipment. Pilot/Gunnery cannot be different by more than 2, and no BV bonus points for force smaller than 4 units. STANDARD MECHS ONLY - No custom or modified mechs, no advanced tech.
