GAME: Take the Airfield! GENRE: Modern Land Warfare HOST: Lisa Smedman RULES: Force on Force SCALE: 15mm PLAYER SLOTS: Up to 6 SCENARIO: Based on the TV show "Generation Kill," set during the 2003 war in Iraq. Humvees of the US First Recon Marines are ordered to race through the night to the Qal’at Sukkar Airfield, in order to determine whether it is safe for British paratroopers to land there. According to U2 spyplane surveillance, the airfield is is occupied by tanks of the Iraqi 255th Mechanized Regiment, as well as an undisclosed number of Iraqi Republican Guard units, and is protected by a 23mm anti-aircraft gun. If the Iraqis haven't broken and fled, it's going to be one hell of a fight! 2. GAME: Julius Caesar: Caesar, Pompey and the Roman Civil War 49-45 BC GENRE: Board Game HOST: Wayne Skipper RULES: Columbia Games block strategy game. Rules version 1.1 SCALE: N/A PLAYER SLOTS: Up to 2 SCENARIO: Two player game. If two other folks want to play, I would be happy to sit back and be host/spectator and rules-checker. I am a new member of the Trumpeter Games Society but was originally introduced to the hobby by Jack Hutchings in the late 1960s. Looking forward to playing either "block wargames" or miniatures with other people who enjoy exploring history "at their fingertips." 3. GAME: American Civil War Riverine Warfare GENRE: American Civil War Naval HOST: Dennis Chin RULES: Age of Iron SCALE: 1/600th PLAYER SLOTS: 4 - 6 SCENARIO: Thunder on the Tennessee River: the Battle For Fort Henry, February 6, 1862. The newly commissioned Brig. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant landed two divisions just north of Fort Henry on the Tennessee River on Feb. 5, 1862. Grant’s plan was to advance upon the fort on February 6 while it was simultaneously attacked by Union gunboats commanded by Flag Officer Andrew Foote. His flotilla consisted of four large ironclads: USS Cairo, USS Winnebago, USS Dictator and USS Milwaukee. Unfortunately, for Foote, the Confederate Department of the Navy had other plans for him, waiting 5 miles west of Fort Henry. 4. GAME: Savage Swords of Lanhkmar! GENRE: RPG HOST: Fafhrd and The Grey Mouser RULES: Savage Worlds! SCALE: Heroic PLAYER SLOTS: 3 - 6 Scoundrels SCENARIO: ...having dealt with the Shark Cult Temple and acquiring the mysterious idol, the group discovered something they hadn't bargained for... a curse! Now the only way to rid themselves of this blight is via a ritual on a remote island in the Inner sea from whence it came... but do they trust the mysterious women from this far off island! 5. GAME: Tomb of the Lost King GENRE: Board Game HOST: Rick Kimberley RULES: HeroQuest PLAYER SLOTS: Up to 4 SCALE: 28mm / board game SCENARIO: The tomb of an ancient king thought to be no more than legend has just been discovered. It will take a party of stalwart heroes to brave the tomb’s perils and reap the rewards that lie within... Experience with HeroQuest is not required. I’ll be tweaking the rules and resources a bit to cater for a larger group (up to 6 in total). Kids are welcome with adult support. Two of mine will be playing as well (not included in the 4 player spots available). 6. GAME: Cthulhu Wars GENRE: Board Game HOST: Graham Acton RULES: DND 5th ed, DMG, PHB, MM, Sword Coast SCALE: 25mm PLAYER SLOTS: 2 - 6 SCENARIO: Having recovered the reliquary only to find it open, the party now needs to return to Tears gate, can you make it back past the bullywugs and there giant frogs? 7. GAME: Board Game GENRE: Board Game HOST: Kathleen Moore RULES: House on the Hill PLAYER SLOTS: Depends upon the game SCALE: N/A SCENARIO: To be brought: House On The Hill. 8. GAME: German Tank School Defends Against a British Attack GENRE: WWII Armour HOST: Chris Bell RULES: D-DAY to VE-DAY PLAYER SLOTS: ? SCALE: 3mm SCENARIO: A British Tank Regt is trying to capture a bridge runs into a the cadre and trainees of a German Tank School. A mixture of Firefly's and Sherman's vs the latest German Tanks. 9. GAME: What no Bosch!! GENRE: WWI Naval HOST: Jonathan Stone RULES: Supremacy at Sea PLAYER SLOTS: 8 - 10 SCALE: 1/2400th SCENARIO: The Yanks and Brits battle it out to see who rules the world. 10. GAME: World War One Air Combat GENRE: WWI Air Combat HOST: René Charbonneau RULES: Canvas Eagles PLAYER SLOTS: 2 - 12 SCALE: 1/72th SCENARIO: September 1917 The campaign season is almost over. the British are conducting a few bombing raids while the weather permits. 11. GAME: Battletech GENRE: Science Fiction Gaming HOST: Alex Balmer RULES: Total Warfare PLAYER SLOTS: Up to 8 SCALE: Lance vs Lance SCENARIO: Capellan raiders attack a Fedcom outpost, the defending mercenary garrison muster to block the invaders from reaching their objective NOTE: The Trumpeter Society Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be Sunday May 5th at 6:30 - 9:00PM. Please come and make it a success. We will have proxies this Friday Game Night at Bonsor for those that cannot attend. |
